The order issued on Friday by the office of principal secretary, medical education, Alok Kumar says, “The option of leave will be selected by the head of the medical institutions facilitating Covid treatment in the state.” The earlier order issued in May last year stated 14 days of quarantine after duty.
The April 30 order has been sent to all medical institutions, including SGPGIMS, King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, all medical colleges in the state providing level-two and level-three Covid facilities to patients.
The order has been welcomed by the medical staff. “This order is apt for the present situation and will help motivate the employees to perform duty,” said Pradip Gangwar, president, KGMU employees’ council. He said after 14 days of strenuous duty in a Covid facility, it was appropriate to give a few days of break to the staff.
