VARANASI: Despite strict instructions to avoid crowding, candidates for various posts of panchayat and their supporters gathered outside counting centres in different districts on Sunday morning. Amid tight security arrangement, counting of votes started in the morning.
After winning elections for the posts of village head, the winners distributed sweets in Sripatti, Semra in Kon developmental block area of Mirzapur. Likewise, winners distributed sweets in different villages of Chandauli. In Pindara block of Varanasi, the result of Karemua village panchayat was declared first. Here Anil Kumar defeated Amit Kumar by 79 votes. There were tight security arrangements at all the counting centres. DM Kaushal Raj Sharma inspected the counting at various centres.
Sharma has given instruction to the security personnel not to allow any gathering outside the counting venues.
