LUCKNOW : The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday extended the ongoing statewide “partial corona curfew” by two days. It will now end at 7am on Thursday (May 6) instead of 7am on Tuesday.

Chief minister Yogi Adityanath ordered the extension at a Covid review meeting with his Team-9, said the government in a statement soon after the meeting.

The ongoing partial corona curfew began at 8pm on Friday, April 30 and was due to end at 7am on Tuesday, May 4.

“Now, it will stay in force till 7am on May 6,” said the state government.

However, essential services such as medical services, medicine shops, vegetable shops, and continuous process industries will continue to function during the curfew, the statement added.

The government also clarified that the partial corona curfew “is not a lockdown”.

Earlier on Sunday, the Yogi government ordered that interstate bus services will not be allowed in the state. It also directed that Covid negative report was mandatory for air travel. There is no date or deadline announced regarding how long these two restrictions will be in force.

There has been a gradual extension of the weekend closure in the last few weeks. On April 29, the state government had extended the closure by a day to cover Monday too.
