With Kumbh over, UP wants its health staff back from U’khand

LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh has asked its neighbouri­ng state Uttarakhan­d to send back immediatel­y its medical staff deployed on Kumbh duty in Haridwar.

“In all, 97 doctors, 97 nurses, 100 pharmacist­s were sent to Uttarakhan­d for the Kumbh duty in Haridwar which is now over and they are urgently required for Covid duty in UP. Hence, they be relieved immediatel­y,” wrote director general, medical health, UP, Dr DS Negi, to his Uttarakhan­d counterpar­t.

more in Uttarakhan­d, hence we have requested that they should be sent back immediatel­y,” said Dr Negi. Uttar Pradesh has till now reported 13,4,2413 Covid cases 13,447 deaths. At present, the average daily cases in the state are around 30,000. A large number of medical staff on duty are testing positive for Covid and hence there is a need for additional staff, including nurses, doctors, ward boys, cleaning staff and pharmacist­s.
