{ } SC order on cap for reservations today
The Supreme Court will on Wednesday deliver its verdict on a bunch of petitions that have implored it to scrap the 50% ceiling on reservations in educational institutions and jobs by reviewing a legal precedent that has held the ceiling as inviolable for three decades now. A five-judge bench, headed by justice Ashok Bhushan, will deliver its verdict on the petitions challenging the Bombay high court order which upheld the Maharashtra government decision to grant reservation to Marathas. The Maharashtra law caused a breach in 50% ceiling.
