Update kin on condition of their patients admitted in Covid hospitals, says CM

Officials told to supply oxygen to patients in home isolation

LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath said on Thursday directed officials to regularly monitor the health condition of patients admitted in Covid hospitals and from time to time update their family members at homes on their kin’s condition.

He said a medical profession­al should be nominated in each Covid hospital to carry out this task. “Families must be aware of their kin’s condition.”

“Also introduce a system of on-demand oxygen supply to patients who need oxygen in home isolation,” he said. Yogi also informed that several big industrial units had set up Covid care centres at their units. At present a total of 544 industries have covid cares centres active with a total bed strength of 800.

The chief minister was reviewing the Covid-19 situation in the state in a meeting with Team-9, formed to deal with the second wave of Covid pandemic. It consists of the health minister, the medical education minister and several top bureaucrat­s in the state. He said that policy of test, track, treat was giving satisfacto­ry results and on an average the state was doing 2 to 2.5 lakh tests per day. He said at the same time the number of fresh cases was falling. He said contact tracing should be intensifie­d.

Float global tender for cryogenic tankers for O2

Chief minister said after the global tender for the 40 million Covid vaccinatio­n doses, the process to issue a global tender for procuring cryogenic tankers (for oxygen) should be started.

Yogi said as of now the state had 89 tankers engaged in oxygen supply. The number of tankers that the central government gave to UP together accounts for a total of 400 mt of oxygen-carrying capacity. “Some private business houses have provided oxygen tankers and there is a need to increase the number of oxygen tankers further. Float a global tender of procuremen­t of cryogenic tankers,”he said adding, “A total of 823 mt of oxygen was distribute­d on Wednesday and soon a train with 80 metric tonnes of oxygen will arrive from Jamnagar (Gujarat).”
