: With the aim of curbing Covid spread to rural parts of the state capital, the district administration launched a door-to-door testing, tracking, and treatment drive in Mohanlalganj on Thursday.

District magistrate Abhishek Prakash himself led the campaign during which medical kits were also distributed to symptomatic patients. “Our focus is to keep a check on the virus spread in rural pockets of the state capital and to assist the rural folks in fighting back the Covid infection,” he said.

The DM also inspected the community health centre (CHC) in the area and reviewed the ongoing anti-Covid programmes. The inspection was followed by door-to-door visits that was carried out by the DM himself along with the rapid response team (RRT) to ensure whether the houses were free from the infection or not. Prakash said the only way to break the chain of the infection was to ensure 100 percent testing and tracking besides proper treatment of Covid positive patients.

He said nigrani samitis (monitoring committees) had also been set up at gram panchayat level to keep an eye on Covid patients, especially migrant workers. During the campaign, chief medical officer Sanjay Bhatnagar was also present.

On Wednesday, the UP government announced the door-todoor testing campaign in rural parts of UP, anticipating an upsurge in Covid cases following recently held panchayat polls in the state.
