AGRA FACES COVISHIELD SHORTAGE, TO GET FRESH STOCK
Agra district is facing a shortage of Covishield vaccines and many people are found returning from health centres because of nonavailability of both the first and the second dose. The vaccination for those in the 18-44 age group is yet to start in Agra.
While the government-run SN Medical College and Hospital in Agra is giving Covaxin, the second dose of Covishield is not available at most of the centres.
Dr Sanjeev Burman, the district immunisation officer for Agra, said Covishield could not be given at most of the urban centres due to the shortage but would be given from Friday as they were to receive 5,000 doses of Covishield from Lucknow.
Dr Burman said 33 private hospitals were provided vaccines and they had already returned the unused ones by April 30.
