THE STATE GOVT BEGAN THE PROCESS OF ALLOWING OPENING OF NEW COLLEGES LAST YEAR IN NOVEMBER AND GOT VER 1,000 APPLICATIONS

LUCKNOW: The state government has fixed the date for application for establishment of new colleges and expansion of existing ones in Uttar Pradesh.

In a letter written to the state higher education director and vice-chancellors of all state universities, special secretary Shravan Kumar Singh said on Thursday that the government has sought applications by May 18. HT has a copy of the said letter.

According to the previous orders, colleges planning to start more subjects and applications for opening new colleges for the academic session 2021-22, were to be submitted with the formation of the inspection committee by May 18. These applications were to be submitted online.

The state government began the process of allowing opening of new colleges last year in November.

Reportedly, the state government has received over 1,000 applications which are being processed at various levels.

The formation of the inspection committee is the final stage in the process before getting a green signal from the government.

Considering the constraints caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the state government has made the entire process for application online keeping only a few steps of manual verification.
