- HT Correspondent letters@htlive.com

“Please don’t take action against employees and teachers who remained absent on duty in the recently concluded three-tier panchayat elections,” Samajwadi Party member of legislative council (MLC) Ashutosh Sinha has said in his written appeal to district magistrates (DMs) of seven districts, including Varanasi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Bhadohi and Ballia.

He wrote a letter to the DMs and also sent a copy of it to divisional commissioners of Azamgarh,

Varanasi and Mirzapur division.

Sinha said that several teachers and other employees could not do duty in the elections due to adverse conditions and that their absence was not deliberate. Sinha said that this time there was a need to motivate and encourage all the employees who played crucial role in completion of the three-tier panchayat elections, right from voting to counting.

Now that the election was over, action should not be taken against the teachers and employees who could not be present on election duty, he said
