SEC 144 IMPOSED IN LUCKNOW IN VIEW OF EID, BADA MANGAL
LUCKNOW : Amid corona curfew, which is on for past eight days, the Lucknow police administration has imposed section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) that prohibits gathering of four or more people in a specified area at a certain time period.
The restrictions began on Friday (May 7) and will be in place till the end of June, said senior police officials of Lucknow Commissionerate.
The order states that no gathering will be allowed at any place of worship or places meant for amusement and religious celebrations.

“The restrictions have been imposed as per the order of Lucknow’s joint commissioner of police (JCP), law and order, Piyush Mordia, dated May 6. They have been imposed in view of upcoming Eid and Parshuram Jayanti on May 14, Buddh Purnima on May 26 and Bada Mangal to start from June 1,” said an official. The order states that no gathering will be allowed at any place of worship or places meant for amusement and religious celebrations. Only limited number of people could gather at marriage functions and death processions after taking due permission from the authorities concerned, said an official.
While all types of processions are completely restricted, strict compliance of noise pollution restrictions will also have to be ensured during the period, said the order.
For permission for any event or gathering, the concerned persons can approach the office of Lucknow Commissioner of Police and present their case.
The permission will be granted, if it is found suitable, after hearing the applicants’ appeal, said the official.
