Admn puts cap on ambulance charges

LUCKNOW: The district administra­tion on Friday capped the charges of the ambulances engaged in transporta­tion of Covid patients in Lucknow. The administra­tion made it clear that regular ambulance, ambulance with oxygen support and ambulance with ventilator support could not charge more than Rs1000, Rs1500 and Rs2500 respective­ly for a distance of 10km.

“We have fixed the fares of the ambulances engaged in the transporta­tion of Covid patients,” said Abhishek Prakash, DM. Officials said the move was an outcome of the frequent complaints of over-charging from the ambulance drivers. The administra­tion order further directs the ambulance operators, including those operating regular ambulance and the ones with oxygen support, not to charge more than Rs 100 per kilometre after 10km.

The order says that the ventilator equipped ambulances would not charge more than 200 Rs per kilometre after 10km distance.
