‘IN VILLAGES WHERE PEOPLE BARELY GOT MEDICINES FOR FEVER, HOW THEY WOULD GET BEDS, O2, LIFE-SAVING DRUGS, VACCINES

: Alleging that the BJP government continued to spread lies on Covid situation in the state, Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday said it might prove deadly for UP amidst the second wave of the pandemic.

“The bitter truth is that the state is enshrouded in mourning over all those dying of Covid but the chief minister is busy in doing touch-and-go kind of tours. This is called zero sensitivity towards those who are dying and those who are losing their near and dear ones to Covid. The travels won’t change the conditions prevailing in the state,” Akhilesh said in a statement.

“Worldwide there is a worry over the deadlier second wave of the pandemic and already predictions are coming in that the third wave would even more disastrous. But the BJP government in the state continues to spread lies that the state was bringing Covid under control. These lies and attitude could prove deadly for the state,” the statement said.

The former CM said already the numbers of Covid infection in the state were unnerving and now that when the contagion had entered villages and began spreading there, the numbers might go up even further.

“The infection is not stopping in the state capital Lucknow and other big cities of the state and everyday news are emanating from all over about mismanagement at hospitals, lack of beds, oxygen, medicines etc. If such is the condition of the cities, one can imagine how horrific the scene in rural UP would turn,” he said.

Akhilesh further said in villages where people barely got medicines for fever, how they would get beds, oxygen, life-saving drugs, vaccines etc.

“The government is not able to test the migrants who are returning to villages from cities. Administrative machinery and health services in the state have paralysed,” Akhilesh alleged in the statement.
