LUCKNOW : Defence minister Rajnath Singh will be arriving in Lucknow, his Lok Sabha constituency, on Tuesday to inspect the two dedicated Covid facilities in the state capital that have come up through the active cooperation of the ministry of defence in collaboration with the UP government.
“After visiting these two Covid facilities, the defence minister will head straight for the airport and leave for Delhi around 1.30 pm,” BJP’s Lucknow district chief Mukesh Sharma said.
Soon after landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh (Amausi) airport around 11.30 am, Singh will leave for inspecting the HAL’s 250-bed advance Covid care centre that has been set up at the Haj House. This HAL facility at Sarojini Nagar has been set up on the lines of similar facilities that HAL has started in other parts of the country, including Bengaluru and Nashik. From there, Singh will head straight for the makeshift 505-bed Covid hospital at Awadh Shilpgram that has been set up by the Defence
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and named after former PM the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Of the total 505 beds at this Covid facility, 250, including 150 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, have been made operational.
He will also monitor treatment being given to Covid patients at the hospital. Party leaders said Rajnath was also likely to give a pep talk to doctors and officials attending to Covid patients. During the inauguration of DRDO facility, CM Yogi had thanked defence minister Rajnath Singh for sanctioning the Covid facility.
The DRDO has also helped set up similar makeshift Covid hospitals in other parts of the state like Varanasi.
