Hospitals plan measures to ensure booths are not crowded
LUCKNOW : Covid vaccine shots were given to 9,878 beneficiaries at 53 vaccination centres set up at government hospitals in Lucknow on Monday.
Among these, 3,473 were between 18 and 44 years of age. The health department had allotted vaccine for 3,500 beneficiaries in this age group at 11 vaccination centres. As many as 1,967 people in 45-60 years age group took the second dose while 1,927 in this age group took the first dose. Among the 60-plus beneficiaries, 1,449 took their second dose and 616 the first dose, according to the health department.
With second dose beneficiaries making a beeline at vaccination centres, hospitals now plan measures to ensure that the booths are not crowded. Those who had their first dose at private hospitals are also coming for a second dose at government vaccination centres, hence the crowd is there.
“We have decided to dedicate one booth for second dose only while at second booth there will be vaccination facility for those between 18 and 44. Another booth will give jabs to males above 45 years and the fourth one will vaccinate women above 45 years. We will ensure there is no crowd,” said Dr SC Sundariyal, director of Civil Hospital.
Private hospitals too have started approaching the government and suppliers for vaccine. “Vaccination at private hospitals is suspended since April 30 and we are trying to get doses from the manufacturers,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors, who wrote a letter to the authorities in UP to get vaccination restarted at private hospitals. “We are approaching government officials and vaccine manufacturers to get vaccine doses.,” said Dr Rakesh Kapoor, director, Medanta hospital in Lucknow.
