FATHER OF ACS (HOME) SUCCUMBS TO COVID-19
LUCKNOW : Aditya Kumar Awasthi, father of Awanish Awasthi, additional chief secretary (home), Uttar Pradesh, died of Covid-19 on Monday morning. He was 95.
He was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences where he breathed his last while being treated for Covid-19. His last rites were performed at Bhaisakund crematorium while following the Covid protocol.
Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and chief minister Yogi Adityanath have condoled the death of Aditya Kumar Awasthi and extended their prayers for the departed soul.
A metallurgist from IIT-BHU and trained in Germany, Aditya Kumar Awasthi was part of the first batch of engineers in a post Independent India, who contributed to laying the foundations for iron and steel infrastructure in the country. Known for his discipline, strong will-power and a calm personality, he was a fighter in spirit as he battled till the very end.
He is survived by his wife Usha Awasthi, three sons and daughter-in laws-- Awanish, Malini, Manish, Manali, Ashish and Juhi Awasthi.
