CONSTABLE ACCUSED OF RAPE BY COLLEAGUE

An FIR of rape was lodged against a constable on the complaint of a woman constable at Ashiana police station in Lucknow on Monday. The FIR was lodged after preliminary investigation, police officials said.

In her complaint, the woman constable has alleged that Ashwini Pratap Singh raped her on pretext of marriage for over two years. She has also alleged that the accused hit her when she asked him to marry her.

The accused and the woman are posted at Ashiana police station. Singh was suspended last month and is currently attached with police lines, officials said.

Investigation into the case is being done by Cantt ACP Archana Singh. “The woman constable has alleged that the accused is married but hid this fact,” said the ACP. Notably, the woman constable had created a ruckus at the Ashiana police station on April 20 after her complaint in the matter was not registered. A probe was ordered into the matter and the FIR of rape was lodged on Monday.
