The owner of a health care centre in Vrindavan Yojna, Lucknow, was on Monday arrested for allegedly charging exorbitant rates for renting oxygen concentrators and selling oxygen cylinders in the black market, said police officials.

The accused, Subhash Chandra, 44, targeted critical Covid patients and their families who were in dire need of medical oxygen. He sold oxygen cylinders or rented oxygen concentrators to them at very high rates.

After cops received a complaint against Chandra, he was nabbed by a police team. The cops intercepted his phone calls and caught him red-handed in Hussainganj.

The accused told the police that he used to charge Rs 35,000 to 45000 per week to rent oxygen concentrators. Chandra also confessed to selling oxygen cylinders at Rs 40,000 to 50,000.
