28 days on, UP records less than 20k cases in a day

LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh reported 18,125 fresh Covid-19 cases and 329 fresh fatalities on Wednesday, taking the death toll to 16,369 and total count of Covid cases to 15,63,235.
It was after a gap of 28 days that the state reported less than 20,000 fresh Covid cases in a single day.
On April 14, UP had reported 20,514 fresh Covid cases. The day before, the count was little over 18,000.

Kanpur reported maximum 26 fresh deaths, Lucknow 23, Ghaziabad 5, Gautam Budha Nagar 11, Moradabad 14, Meerut 11, Gorakhpur 9, Saharanpur 7, Varanasi 4, Azamgarh 9 and Hardoi 11, according to the data.
The state has tested 4,36,51,487 Covid sample till now, including 2,45,986 samples in the past 24 hours. The state has 57,917 containment zones at present. “Till now 13,40,251 patients have recovered in the state. There are 2,06,615 active cases under treatment of which 1,52,725 are in home isolation. As compared to April 30 when there were 3,10,835 active cases under treatment a fall of 1,04,168 in active cases has been recorded till today,” said Amit Mohan Prasad, additional chief secretary, medical health.
Lko reports less than 1000 cases, 23 deaths
Fresh daily Covid cases in the state capital came below the 1000 mark on Wednesday as 916 people tested positive in the past 24 hours, taking the total case count to 2,30,721 while 23 fresh fatalities took the death toll to 2160. On April 3, fresh Covid cases had crossed the 1000 mark (1041 exactly) and kept rising since then. On Wednesday, for the first time the fresh cases in Lucknow were not highest among all the districts in the state, as Meerut reported a maximum of 1232 cases.
“The recovery rate in Lucknow is 91.42,” said Dr Abhishek Shukla, secretary general, Association of International Doctors. There are 17614 active cases under treatment in Lucknow. The recovery rate in the state is 85.7%. “Fall in fresh cases is a good sign but keeping in view the tendency of virus spread we need to follow Covid protocol on priority so that infection does not spreads and we are able to break the chain of infection spread,” said Dr Samir Misra, senior faculty, trauma surgery at the King George’s Medical University.
