NEW PUNJAB DIST CONG’S DIVISIVE POLICY: YOGI

LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday attacked the Congress and its government in Punjab over formation of new district of Malerkotla there.

In a tweet in Hindi, Yogi said: “Any differentiation in the name of any religion or creed is opposed to the basic principles of the Constitution. At this time, formation of Malerkotla (as a district) is an example of divisive policy of the Congress.”

Chandigarh edition of the Hindustan Times on Friday reported that as the state headed for elections next year, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh announced Malerkotla as the 23rd district of the state on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Malerkotla is the only Muslim-dominated town of Punjab.
