All slots get booked for entire week in no time
The slots for vaccination of people between 18 and 44 years were the first to get filled as soon as the window on CoWIN portal showed slots at around 10 am
LUCKNOW : All slots for getting the first dose of Covid vaccine in Lucknow got booked within minutes for the entire week (May 17 to 22) soon after the registration window at CoWIN portal opened on Sunday morning.
“I was looking for doses for my wife and myself but could do it only for my wife as by the time I could book another slot, the green spot had turned red indicating all slots were booked at BRD Hospital in Mahanagar,” said one Rakesh of Daliganj.
As soon as the window on CoWIN portal showed slots at around 10 am, the slots for vaccination of people between 18 and 44 years were the first to get filled and then other centres offering vaccine doses too got filled. At present, nearly 90 vaccination centres are offering vaccine doses, including 11 centres offering vaccine doses to those between 18 and 44 years of age.

city outskirts also became full in about one-and-half-hours. Slots for people up to 44 years of age were filled till May 22 and for those above 45 till May 29.
“People between 18 and 44 years of age are more enthusiastic than any other age group for vaccination. Till now, over 90%
of those who registered for vaccination have taken their first dose. It is higher than any other age group getting vaccinated in Lucknow,” said Dr Sandeep Kapoor, director, Healthcity hospital. Till now, over 6.20 lakh people have got Covid vaccine doses in Lucknow since January 16. According to Dr MK Singh, in charge vaccination in Lucknow, ample stock of both Covishield and Covaxin vaccines is available in Lucknow.
The government allowed vaccination of all those above 18 from May 1. In UP, it has started in a phased manner. With the state government deciding to launch Covid vaccination for people in 18-44 age group in five more districts from Monday.
