History-sheeter nabbed after encounter

PRAYAGRAJ: A notorious criminal was injured in his leg during an encounter with police team in Tharwai area of transGanga late Saturday night. The injured history sheeter has been admitted to hospital, police said.

SP trans-Ganga Dhawal Jaiswal said the history sheeter has been identified as Mohd Qasim aka Rajababu of Padila area under Tharwai police station and was also wanted by Sarai Inayat police.Late Saturday night, police team carried out checking drive and came across Rajababu, who tried to flee while firing upon the police team. Rajababu was injured in the leg when policemen opened fire in retaliation. Rajababu had 17 cases of serious offences registered against him.
