FIR against private hospital in Prayagraj

-

PRAYAGRAJ : Georgetown police on Saturday lodged an FIR against Dr LS Ojha, the director of Ojha Hospital here, for allegedly handing a hefty amount of bill to a Covid patient who underwent treatment at the hospital a few days ago, said station house officer, Georgetown police station, Shishupal Sharma.

The action was taken following an investigation by senior officials after the patient’s husband filed a complaint in this regard. However, denying the allegations, hospital director Dr LS Ojha claimed that he had all the genuine papers regarding the treatment and would produce them as and when required.

As per reports, Salori area resident one Ashok Mishra in his complaint to the district magistrate claimed that his wife Kiran was undergoing treatment at Ojha Hospital after she tested positive for Covid. On Saturday, the hospital administration handed him a bill of over Rs 3.77 lakh. All his pleas to reduce the bill fell on deaf ears, Mishra alleged. His wife was discharged from the said hospital a few days ago, he added.

Taking instant action on the complaint, DM Bhanu Chandra Goswami sent chief medical officer (CMO) Prabhakar Rai and city magistrate Rajnish Mishra for enquiry.

The two officials scanned the file and bills related to the patient and found that the patient was being charged more than the amount fixed by the government for treatment of Covid patients at private hospitals.

The patient was not only overcharged for medicines and doctor’s visit, but same tests were conducted twice a day for making money, they said.
