14 PVT HOSPITALS IN KASHI GET SHOWCAUSE NOTICE FOR ‘OVERPRICIN­G’

VARANASI: Health department on Saturday served notice to 14 private hospitals for charging more than the fixed price for treatment from relatives of Covid-19 patients.

Chief Medical Officer Dr VB Singh said it had come to the knowledge that 14 private hospitals were taking more money than the rate fixed by government for treating Covid-19 patients from their kin.“It is inappropri­ate and a violation of the government order punishable under the epidemic act 1897 and UP epidemic rule 20,” he said.Dr Singh said notice had been served to 14 hospitals and other hospitals had been asked to fix their rate and inform within two days.

“If these hospitals do not inform in writing that they will take only fixed charge, strict action will be taken against them, which includes their cancellati­on of their affiliatio­n.

The hospitals include Apex Hospital, Bhikahripu­r, Popular Hospital Bachhav, Popular Hospital DLW, Nova Hospital, Shivpur, Omega Plus Hospital Sundarpur, Laxmi Hospital, Cantt, Sainath Hospital, Sundarpur, Janta Hospital, Akhari Bypass, DP Medical Centre, Pahadia, SS Hospital, Harhua, Varsova Hospital Chitaipur, Suryoday India Hospital, Bhojubir, Medwin Hospital, Maidagini and Upkar Hospital Sundarpur.

In addition, a close monitoring of 36 private hospitals is being done,said the CMO.

OTHER HOSPITALS HAVE BEEN ASKED TO FIX THEIR RATE AND INFORM WITHIN TWO DAYS.
