Anger against BJP for failure to manage pandemic: Akhilesh
LUCKNOW: Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday charged the BJP government in the state of acting vengefully against the people. He said there was widespread public anger against the government over its failure to manage the pandemic.
In a statement, Akhilesh said: “The state government badly failed its people regarding the Covid calamity and there was widespread anger among the people over a large number of deaths in both urban and rural areas. Due to this public anger and people voting for Samajwadi Party in the anchayat polls, the BJP government is acting spitefully against the people and creating a crisis within the crisis. Now the prices have risen in the state, farmers are exasperated, and youth are becoming a victim of unemployment.
The BJP spent the four years of its rule in the state in self-interest and enjoying the pleasure of power and continues to follow the same agenda.”
He said the state’s economy had completely crumbled, trade, business and industry had come to a grinding halt, unemployed labourers were not able to manage two square meals, there was price rise and commodities were becoming scarce.
“And now when the state is going through horrific times, the government has made up its mind to increase power tariff. This government, instead of thinking about poor people, works in the interest of big business houses. That’s why the power corporation and the government have recommended the imposition of a regulatory surcharge on all categories of power consumers. The BJP now knows that the West Bengal story will be repeated in the UP assembly elections in 2022. People will not forgive it,” he said.
