Three die as truck rams into public toilet
LUCKNOW : Three people were killed when a truck rammed into public toilet at Scooter India crossing in Sarojini Nagar area on Monday evening, police said.
The mishap occurred when the truck driver tried to save a speeding motorcyclist who wanted to evade cops checking papers of vehicles at the crossing. One of the deceased was identified as Sufiyan. However, the identity of two other deceased was yet to be established, they added.
Somen Barma, deputy commissioner of police, said the cops were trying to ascertain their identify. Other details of Sufiyan were also being collected. All three victims were male.
According to reports, Sufiyan was standing near the public toilet at the Scooter India crossing. Cops, who were checking papers of vehicles at the crossing, signalled a motorcyclist to stop. In a bid to evade cops, the motorcyclist took a U-turn in a bid to flee the spot.
Meanwhile, a truck just behind the motorcyclist lost control over the vehicle while trying to save the biker. Sufiyan, who was standing nearby, tried to save himself by running away. But the truck rammed into public toilet crushing Sufiyan who died on the spot.
Two others, who were injured in the accident, died during treatment at a hospital later. Traffic was disrupted at the busy Kanpur Road due to the mishap.
