Sixth O2 Exp reaches Knp City, 7th on way

PRAYAGRAJ: The Indian Railways, in its bid to ensure speedy unhindered supply of oxygen for Kanpur, is continuous­ly running oxygen express trains. A total of 280 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen (LMO) has been delivered to Kanpur City by the Railways so far, railway officials said here on Monday.

A train containing 40 MT of LMO in two cryogenic containers loaded from Tatanagar by South Eastern Railway, reached the Kanpur yard in the wee hours of Monday.

It was immediatel­y placed inside the Inland Container Depot for decanting where Santosh Kumar Tripathi, assistant commercial manager (ACM)-Kanpur along with local Railway and Container Corporatio­n of India (CONCOR) officials ensured timely offloading, Malviya said.

“One more train carrying 40 MT of LMO has started its journey to Kanpur from Durgapur at 11am on Monday and is expected

to reach Kanpur late on Monday night. It has two cryogenic containers loaded over it,” senior public relations officer of NCR, Amit Malviya said.

After completion of decanting, the LMO was delivered to Gulab Chandra, Tehsildar of Ghatampur by the siding authoritie­s. At 9am, the train carrying empty containers departed from Kanpur for further loading at Tatanagar, he added.

This was the sixth Oxygen Express for Kanpur run by Indian Railways in view of serving the needs of Covid patients of the city and adjoining areas.
