Muz’nagar, Saharanpur to have 17 more oxygen plants, says Yogi
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said 17 more oxygen plants would be set up in Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur districts of Saharanpur division. While six of the new plants would come up in Muzaffarnagar district, 11 would be in Saharanpur district, he added. Four oxygen plants were already operational in Muzaffarnagar, he said.
The chief minister was in Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur on Monday to review arrangements for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. Saharanpur division consists of Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts in western Uttar Pradesh.
Although the demand for oxygen exponentially increased during the second wave, he claimed, “There was no shortage of oxygen now.”
He also said the state had witnessed a decline of 1.61 lakh in the number of active Covid-19 cases (patients under treatment) in the last 16 days.
Uttar Pradesh had become the first state where 4.5 crore Covid-19 tests had been conducted, he reiterated, addressing reporters. “Corona harega, desh jeetega,” he added and claimed, “The second wave is now under control”. He once again emphasised on the 3T formula (testing, tracing and treatment) to control Covid-19.
After his arrival, the chief minister visited the Covid control command centres in Muzaffarnagar and Saharanpur. Senior officials briefed him about the treatment being provided to patients at Covid hospitals. The chief minister also visited the
police Covid hospital at the police lines in Muzaffarnagar. Additional director general of police (Meerut zone) Rajeev Sabharwal and senior superintendent of police (Muzaffarnagar) Abhishek Yadav briefed him about the hospital, medical kits and treatment facilities for the police personnel.
He also held review meetings with officials in the two districts. Adityanath then visited Rampur village of Sadar tehsil in Muzaffarnagar where he interacted with the family members of a Covid-19 patient.
BKU withdraws decision to oppose Yogi’s visit
Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) withdrew its decision to oppose the chief minister’s visit to Saharanpur division after discussions with officials. BKU leaders had posted the union’s decision to oppose the CM’s on the social media earlier.
Muzaffarnagar district Selva Kumari J and senior superintendent of police Abhishek Yadav held a meeting with a BKU delegation which included its chief Naresh Tikait, state spokesperson
Dharmendra Malik, divisional general secretary Raju Ahlawat and district president Dheeraj Latiyan. After a long discussion, Naresh Tikait announced withdrawal of the decision to oppose the visit.
“He (CM) is arriving to review the situation during the pandemic. Therefore, we have decided to withdraw our decision,” Tikait said.
