Cong demand ₹1 crore each aid to kin of the dead

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) has demanded an assistance of Rs 1 crore and a government job to the dependents all the staff who died on duty during the recently conducted panchayat elections in the state. In a press statement, UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu said besides teachers and other personnel, about 200 ‘shiksha mitras’, 99 ‘anudeshak’ and about 100 cooks had lost their life after catching Covid-19 infection during the panchayat elections.

He said the state government had not adopted a uniform policy to provide assistance to the staff that died on poll duty.

He said while the state government had declared an assistance of Rs 30 lakh for dependents of its employees and teachers, it had not declared any relief for ‘shiksha mitras, ‘anudeshak’ and cooks.
