4 COMMERCIAL TAX OFFICIALS SUSPENDED FOR ‘SNATCHING’ ₹43L FROM TRADER

LUCKNOW: The commercial tax department on Tuesday suspended its four class-2 officials in a case related to the alleged snatching of Rs 43 lakh from a trader during checking of the vehicle the trader was riding in Agra last month. All the four officials were posted in the Special Investigat­ion Branch (SIB) in Agra. Agra-based trader Pradeep Kumar Agrawal had lodged an FIR against them alleging that they snatched Rs 43 lakh from him while checking his vehicle on April 29. The action comes after the Agra police lodged an FIR and a preliminar­y department­al inquiry also found merit in the charges. Officials suspended are DN Singh, additional commercial tax commission­er, Agra, Abhishek Singh, joint commercial tax commission­er, Ajay Kumar, assistant commercial tax commission­er and Shailendra Kumar, commercial tax officer.
