CM, BJP LEADERS MOURN DEATH OF RANI OF JHANDI

LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, in his condolence message to Raja Raj Rajeshwar Singh of the erstwhile Jhandi estate (Lakhimpur Kheri district), mourned the untimely demise of his wife Alka Singh, 42, the Rani of Jhandi.

She passed away on May 6, 2021, after a long battle against Covid, at the Apollo Hospital in Lucknow. The ‘tehrvi’ ritual was performed with Covid protocols on Wednesday at her residence (Jhandi House) at New Hyderabad, Lucknow.

In a letter issued recently, the CM referred to Alka Singh as a prominent social worker and a compassionate lady.

Raja Raj Rajeshwar Singh is a prominent BJP member in the state organization.

Among those who paid their last respects to the departed soul through letters and phone calls were BJP national president JP Nadda; Lucknow MP and defence minister Rajanth Singh; Union minister of skill development Mahendra Nath Pandey; BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh; BJP national vice president Rekha Verma; UP health minister Jai Pratap Singh; state general secretary JPS Rathore; Kheri MP Ajay Mishra Teni and many other senior BJP and RSS leaders of UP. Apart from politicians, the Royal families of Awadh and Odisha expressed their grief.
