CPI DEMANDS ALL-PARTY COMMITTEES TO FIGHT PANDEMIC IN VILLAGES
LUCKNOW: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has demanded that the state government constitute district and village panchayat-level all-party committees that can play an important role in combating Covid-19 pandemic by creating public awareness.
In a statement issued here, party state secretary Heera Lal Yadav said that villagers had a lot of misconceptions and doubts regarding the pandemic even as a large number of infected people were dying because of lack of medical facilities in villages.
He said lack of awareness about the disease was also one of the reasons for increasing number of deaths, with ignorant people resorting to superstitious practices or buying over the counter drugs to treat Covid.
“All-party committees can play an important role in educating people and providing them correct information,” Yadav said.
The party also demanded that the government provide Rs 6,000 and 10 kg free ration a month to the unemployed and the workers in the unorganized sector.
“We also demand that the government eliminate the role of middlemen in the government procurement of wheat and ensure all procurement centres are operational so that farmers have no problem in selling wheat at the minimum support price (MSP)”, he said.
