Judicial services assn members demand vaccinatio­n on priority

LUCKNOW: Law minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday reached out to the officers of the Uttar Pradesh Judicial Services Associatio­n, many of whom have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic. At a virtual interactio­n, he said his government was committed to helping all the officials and staff and suggested that the associatio­n should set up a WhatsApp group to ensure that informatio­n was quickly conveyed to all and help expedited for those in need.

The UP Judicial Services Associatio­n also virtually presented a memorandum to the minister which contained two main demands: vaccinatio­n on priority for law officers, their families and all court staff after recognisin­g them as frontline workers and provision of cashless medical facility for them.

“I assure you all that I will personally ensure that best of medical facility is provided, including hospital admission, to all those getting infected by Covid-19. I am in touch with judicial service officials who are currently recovering from the infection and all necessary medical facilities are being provided to them,” the law minister said. In the recent past, a judge of the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court and 11 other judicial service officials died and the law minister paid his tributes to them. Those who succumbed to Covid-19 included Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court and eleven other judicial service officers – Satya Prakash Dwivedi, additional district judge (ADJ) Moradabad, Rajeev Kumar Singh, ADJ Badaun, Vishnu Pratap Singh, ADJ Deoria, Dhirendra Pratap Singh, ADJ Prayagraj, Krishna Chandra Pandey, ADJ Basti, Ami Singh, ACJ Bhadohi, Shakil Ahmad Khan, principal judge, family court, Sant Kabir Nagar, Rajesh Kumar, ADJ Lakhimpur, Taiyyab Ahmad, ADJ Saharanpur, Omvir ji, ADJ Lalitpur and Amit Kumar Singh, chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Etah.The Judicial Services Associatio­n has also demanded Rs 2 crore financial help to families of each of the 11 judicial services officers who have died and better facilities during postings among other things.
