Procurement agencies harassing farmers: Cong

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Ajay Kumar Lallu on Wednesday accused the state government’s procurement agencies of not cooperating with farmers at the wheat procurement centres in the state.

In a press statement, Lallu said the procurement agencies were pointing out various problems to reject the produce, forcing the farmers to sell their produce to middlemen. He said the complaints of farmers made on government portal were not being taken care of.

He also said fake registrations being done at procurement centres were harming the interests of farmers. Lallu said the farmers were already facing problem following increase in prices of DAP and urea fertilisers and such a behaviour with them during the pandemic was not acceptable.
