Free food grain distribution to beneficiaries from today
LUCKNOW: UP government from Thursday would begin distribution of free rations to the beneficiaries of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), said Manish Chauhan, commissioner, food and civil supply, in a press release issued on Wednesday.
According to the official, 1,30, 07, 969 AAY beneficiaries and 13, 41, 77, 983 regular domestic ration card users, meaning a total of 14.71 crore beneficiaries, would be benefitted under the PMGKAY (phase III).
Chauhan said all DMs have been asked to ensure that the free food grain distribution remains smooth. Each fair price shop should put in place a token system and ensure that no more than five persons queue up at the shop at any point, official said. For each family member registered in the ration card, the beneficiaries would get 3 kilogram of wheat and 2 kilograms of rice
