‘Labs on wheels’ service in Lucknow to ramp up testing
LUCKNOW: The district administration has started ‘labs on wheels’ service to facilitate Covid testing at people’s doorstep. Initially, 11 vans have been rolled out, but the number may go up in future, said officials.
“We have started the van service to facilitate Covid tests at people’s doorstep. This would provide convenience to people as they won’t have to rush to the testing centres,” said Abhishek Prakash, district magistrate, who launched the service on Wednesday.
These vans would be operational from May 21. Lab officials have been asked to ensure that the correct details of people were uploaded on the portal that could further help in tracing Covid patients, he said.
Of the 11 vans, seven are powered by private test labs and four by government testing centres. The move is an initiative to ramp up testing, added the DM.
