HC SEEKS GOVT REPLY ON PLEA AGAINST CANCELLATION OF TEACHERS’ TRANSFER
PRAYAGRAJ : The Allahabad high court has directed the state government to file a counter affidavit (reply) in a petition challenging cancellation of transfer of teachers who made mistakes in the online application forms regarding whether they (applicants) were posted in urban or rural area.
The court has also sought a response from the Basic Education Council in this matter.
Justice MC Tripathi passed the order on a petition filed by Reena Upadhyay and 13 others. The court fixed June 10 as the next date of hearing in the case.
According to petitioners, in December 2019, a government order (GO) for interstate transfers was issued by the state government.
Thereafter, the petitioners, who were appointed in various schools of Sant Kabir Nagar and Maharajganj districts, applied for transfer to other districts.
In their online applications, they mistakenly showed their posting in urban areas while they were posted in rural areas as they were getting house rent allowance at par with those posted in urban areas.
The basic education officer also certified their applications. After this, the transfer of the petitioners was made in urban areas where they joined.
