Distilleries, sugar mills to set up oxygen plants in rural areas

The state government, with the help of sugar mills and distilleries ,is going to fulfill the requirement of oxygen plants in rural areas.

“The Uttar Pradesh Sugar Mill Association is in the process of getting installed oxygen generators at several community health centres in rural areas. “

In the first week of next month, the process of installing the plants will start, and some of them will also start functioning. These plants will supply oxygen to health centres in rural areas round the clock, ,” said an official of the state government.

“Sugar mills and distilleries are installing oxygen generators in 40 and 35 districts, respectively. Initial payments have already been made to the companies supplying equipment for these plants,” the official said.

In community health centres, oxygen will be made available to patients through pipelines, he said.

Siddharth Nath Singh, MSME minister in the state government, said that the government’s effort was to reduce dependency of hospitals on liquid oxygen.

Oxygen plants in Lucknow

In the state capital, the work is going on to install oxygen plants in both private and government hospitals.

According to government officials, out of 59 private Covid hospitals, 45 have agreed to install oxygen plants. Out of these, in seven private hospitals oxygen plants have started working while in five, work is going on to make them operational.

For installing oxygen plant at Bhaurao Devras Civil Hospital, Mahanagar, minister Ashutosh Tandon has given Rs 75 lakh from his MP-MLA fund.

Work is going on either to install oxygen plant or increase capacity at Railway hospital, Balrampur hospital, Lok Bandhu hospital, Ram Sagar Mishra hospital and Civil hospital among others. The district industries centre is assisting private hospitals in the state capital to set up oxygen plants or to augment existing capacity of their plants. In addition, the MSME department of the state government is assisting district administration in purchasing oxygen flow regulators for oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment to help fight the pandemic.
