LUCKNOW : Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Sidharth Nath Singh on Friday said leaders of two major parties were spreading fear and lies for petty political gains amid the pandemic.

“During such challenging times, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav should focus on helping people instead of trading in politics of lies,” said Singh, who is also the spokesperson for the UP government, in a statement.

He added that in a bid to regain lost political ground, opposition leaders were solely engaged in political stunts instead of helping people. Continuing his attack on the Samajwadi Party, the MSME minister said: “Former CM Akhilesh Yadav has time and again raised questions over the ongoing (Covid) vaccination drive.”

Singh further said Uttar Pradesh was the only state to administer 1,58,41,256 doses of Covid vaccine so far, accounting for maximum number of people being inoculated against the deadly virus infection.

“A total of 8,52,234 vaccines have been administered to people in the age group of 18-44 so far,” he said. On Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Singh said she was responsible for spreading lies and scare amid the pandemic and termed her act “shamelessly selfish move” to regain lost ground of her party in the state.
