PM PRAISES YOGI’S EFFORTS TO CONTROL JE IN EASTERN UP
VARANASI : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised chief minister Yogi Adityanath for controlling Japanese encephalitis (JE) in the eastern part of the state.
“I remember that Japanese encephalitis used to wreak havoc on children in eastern UP till a few years ago. This went on for several years. As a parliamentarian, Yogiji asked the then state government and the then government at the Centre to launch a special drive against JE in order that it could be controlled. Once, Yogiji cried in Parliament for it,” he said in a virtual interaction with health workers of Varanasi.
“After becoming chief minister, Yogiji along with the Centre launched a drive against JE. And we have controlled JE to some extent and succeeded in saving the lives of a large number of children.”
The efforts to control JE benefited children in the entire eastern UP region, he said.
