‘UP aims to vaccinate all in target age groups in 6 months’

LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the state aimed to vaccinate all people in the target age groups in the next six months and that preparatio­n should be done in an organised manner to accomplish it.

He also asked for running ‘Mera gaon, corona mukt gaon’ campaign in villages and ‘Mera ward, corona mukt ward’ in urban municipal limits for making people help their villages and wards make corona-free. Yogi said this at the Covid-19 review meeting with Team-9. He said for making the vaccinatio­n drive smooth and effective in the rural areas, all common service centres (CSCs) in the villages should be activated for helping people register for vaccinatio­n through these centres.

The chief minister said the Covid recovery rate in the state was steadily rising and currently it was 92.5%. He said the Covid positivity rate was also falling. Yogi said the state had carried out 4.61 crore Covid tests so far.

“In last 24 hours, a total of 7,735 fresh Covid cases were recorded while in the same span a total of 17,668 patients recovered and were discharged from hospitals,” he said.

Later, a government spokespers­on said the chief minister asked all district magistrate­s to run the ‘Mera gaon, corona mukt gaon’ and ‘Mera ward, corona mukt ward’ campaigns extensivel­y in their respective districts and also give prizes to at least top three villages and top three wards in each district.

Later in the day, the CM reviewed Covid situation in Lucknow division.
