The fact that an injury to someone of Kevin De Bruyne’s influence didn’t impact City’s winning run at the beginning of this year shows how deep the squad is. It is in contrast to that of Liverpool, whose title defence crumbled following injuries to their centre-backs. The Reds had their biggest injury crisis in many years and lack of squad depth meant they never recovered from their mid-season dip in form.
