BJP MLA stages sit-in over autopsy delay
Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from Milkipur (Ayodhya district) Gorakhnath Baba staged a sit-in on Sunday against the alleged delay in the post-mortem of five members of a family who were hacked to death over a property dispute on Saturday midnight. The MLA’s aides claimed that it was after the sit-in that local administration and health officials, who had been ignoring the lawmaker’s demand for early postmortem, suddenly got going. After the post-mortem, the bodies were taken for cremation that took place around 10 pm on Sunday at the ancestral village of the victims. The MLA accompanied the bodies for cremation. “Due to the delay in performing post-mortem, the cremation could be done at night. Despite making several calls to local administration and health officials since Sunday afternoon, when nothing happened till about 6.15 pm, the MLA staged a sit- in. Immediately after, everything that had been held up, suddenly started happening,” the MLA’s aide Mahesh Ojha said on phone.
