Bundelkhand to have 15 new oxygen plants: Yogi
CM reiterates that 18+ will get jabs in all districts from June 1, says over 3.17 lakh tests, the highest number in a day, conducted in 24 hrs
KANPUR: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said 15 new oxygen plans were being set up in Bundelkhand and six of them would be in Jhansi.
He also reiterated that the Covid-19 vaccination of people in the 18-44 age group would begin in all the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh from June 1.
At present, the 18+ beneficiaries are being vaccinated in 23 districts. Laying emphasis on testing, he said the state had conducted the highest number of tests in the last 24 hours. Over 3.17 lakh tests were conducted on Saturday, he added.
“Efforts are being made on a war footing to make sure the vaccination is further accelerated. The vaccine would be administered to the 18-44 age group in all the districts (75) from June 1,” he said in Jhansi and Banda, which he visited on Sunday to review the Covid-19 related arrangements.
He had first made the announcement about expansion of the vaccination drive at a Covid-19 review meeting in Lucknow on Saturday.
He pointed out that the first and second wave of the pandemic were different from each other. The state did not face any oxygen shortage in the first wave, but the second wave brought many difficulties.
“The demand for oxygen increased and the state faced a crisis,” he said, adding that 15 new oxygen plants were being set up in Bundelkhand.
The CM said the experts had predicted one lakh cases a day in UP. “The maximum number cases reported were 38000 in a day on April 26 and there has been a consistent slide,” he said.
“In the last 24 hours, about 4800 cases have been reported, a decline of 34,000 cases from the peak. The active cases have come down to 84,880 from 3.10 lakh in 22 days in Uttar Pradesh,” he said.
He said the recovery rate in the state was more than 93%.
He also said the state had so far given vaccines to 1.62 crore people. “Instructions have been given to facilitate vaccination in the villages through the common service centres,” he said.
The chief minister also went to Gandhi Nagar gram panchayat in Jhansi where he interacted with members of surveillance committees. He also met the people in a village. During the inspection of the Covid command centre, he expressed concern over the positive cases and instructed the officials to ensure the best treatment possible to the patients.
