Azam in ICU again, Jilani out of danger

LUCKNOW: Veteran Samajwadi party leader Azam Khan (72) was shifted back to the ICU of critical care medicine department of Medanta hospital here after his condition further deteriorat­ed on Wednesday.

Azam was admitted in Medanta on May 9 after he tested positive for Covid in Sitapur jail along with his son Abdullah Khan, 30. Azam is now being treated for fibrosis and cavity in his lungs in the ICU and is on 5 litre per minute oxygen support, said director of Medanta Dr

Rakesh Kapoor.

A team of critical care experts is keeping a close eye on his condition, said Dr Kapoor adding, the condition of his son Abdullah Khan was stable.

Meanwhile, condition of secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Zafaryab Jilani (71), who was operated upon for clot in his brain on May 21 at Medanta hospital has improved. On Wednesday, his family members were allowed to meet him. Dr Kapoor said, “Now he is out of danger.”
