U.S. CONSIDERS IN-PERSON QUAD SUMMIT
The US is looking to convene an in-person summit of the leaders of the Quad this fall, Kurt Campbell, who is President Joe Biden’s Indo-Pacific czar, said on Wednesday, lending a certain degree of specificity to an understanding that it will be held some time later in the year. He added that it will be focused on infrastructure. “We want to look this fall to convene an in-person Quad [between member countries Australia, Japan, India and the US],” he said. The focus on infrastructure points to a need to harness resources to counter China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
