Test-trace-treat policy, corona curfew helped: CM
LUCKNOW : Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the Covid recovery rate in the state had gone up to 95.4% and that the positivity rate—proportion of samples that return positive among the total tested—in the last 24 hours was barely 1.1%.
However, he added that the state must continue to consolidate Covid treatment and management set-up by increasing beds, making post-Covid wards in all districts and adding human resource (such as doctors, paramedics etc) through new appointments.
Reviewing Covid via videoconferencing, the CM also said oxygen demand in hospitals across the state had come down by 50% in last the few days. Yogi said in the last 24 hours, oxygen demand by patients in home isolation too had fallen and hospitals and refilling units had oxygen backup for at least four days.
He said the “test, trace, treat” policy along with partial corona curfew helped in bringing down the positivity rate in the state consistently. “The Covid infection cases have been coming down drastically,” Yogi said.
He also said the state saw a total of 3,278 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours while in the same time period 6,995 people recovered and were discharged from hospitals. “The state had 3.1 lakh Covid positive cases on April 30 while currently there are 58,270 positive cases only,” the CM said.
Regarding setting up postCovid wards in all districts, Yogi said all such wards must have all resources to treat any postCovid complications. He also said all patients suffering from black fungus infection must be
administered black fungus drugs and there should be arrangements for alternative drugs also to treat the fungal infection. “In the last few days, a total of 120 more Covid beds have been added to various medical colleges”, he said. The CM reiterated that all medical colleges must arrange a 50-bed paediatric intensive care unit each (PICU). Regarding vaccination, he said a total of 1.7 crore doses had been administered in the state so far.
