21 FRESH BLACK FUNGUS CASES REPORTED IN LKO
Twenty-one fresh cases of black fungus (mucormycosis) were reported on Thursday, taking the total number of cases to 290 in Lucknow.
No fresh deaths were reported during the day. Till now, 26 black fungus deaths have been reported.
According to Dr Sudhir Singh, spokesperson, King George’s Medical University, 16 new patients of black fungus were admitted, taking the total number in King George’s Medical University to 186.
Three others were admitted to PGI and two in Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences. In all, 20 patients are under treatment in private hospitals.
50 amphotericin B vials distributed
LUCKNOW: The Red Cross Society in Qaiserbagh distributed 50 more vials of amphotericin B injections to eight attendants of black fungus patients on Thursday, taking the total number of vials distributed since May 20 to 165 against the request for 720 vials for 40 different patients. “We are distributing vials of amphotericin B injections as we are getting consignments. We have received four consignments of 40, 50 25 and 50 vials and all were distributed. The supply is too short against the need,” said Om Prakash Pathak, chairman, Indian Red Cross Society, Lucknow.
