And they finally got back together! After over 17 years, including a delay of over a year because of Covid-19 crisis, actors Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer reunited to take a trip down memory lane. For some, the long-awaited special, Friends: The Reunion, was a nostalgic affair with the six ‘friends’ getting together, while for others, it wasn’t just enough as it didn’t address the problematic plotlines of the show, including lack of diversity. Bollywood also caught up to the Friends frenzy.
“Friends, for so many of us, isn’t just a show. It can just never be. It shaped my entire teenage experience,” says actor Sanjana Sanghi.
Actor Priyanshu Painyuli found it a bit awkward. “You don’t want to see them at this age, when everyone is over 50. Look at the way LeBlanc was looking, so blank. While them coming back was nostalgic, I think it was a good end,” he shares.
For actor Alia Bhatt, the special moment came wrapped with love, as she wrote “everything” with a heart emoji, while sharing a picture of the cast on Instagram. Actor Vaani Kapoor got together with her friends, including actor Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, to watch the special, which streamed in India on ZEE5. Ranjan Kapoor captured the moment writing “The One After The Reunion”. Actor Pooja Chopra says: “It was definitely one hell of a reunion especially Phoebe Buffay (Kudrow) performing Smelly Cat. When they revealed that Aniston and Schwimmer really had feelings for each other, I was like ‘I knew it’. Because the chemistry felt so real.”
Actor Smita Bansal was having a tough time stopping her tears and shared a grab from the show on Instagram. Cricketer Jasprit Bumrah also enjoyed the episode and shared a picture on his Instagram, saying, “Loving the reunion”.
The reunion had a slew of guest stars, including Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, joining in to celebrate the legacy of the ’90s show.
