DON’T FEAR COVID TESTING: YOGI TELLS VILLAGERS
With proper precautions, the impact of speculated third wave can be minimised, he says
LUCKNOW: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday urged villagers neither to fear Covid testing nor to hide the disease.
He also called upon the people to cooperate with the nigrani samitis (vigilance committees), which are tasked with making door-to-door visits to check people’s health.
He was virtually addressing people in the villages of Mahoba and Sitapur as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s rural outreach activity timed with the completion of seven years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre on Sunday.

“Don’t take corona lightly. Prevention is the key but in case someone is infected, then timely treatment is must for early recovery. We are committed to saving our villages,” Adityanath said. His government was also geared up to tackle the third wave that was being speculated, he added.
“Just as we are delivering door-to-door Covid kits and medicines, we would also use the nigrani samitis to begin distributing medicines for children ahead of the third wave. With proper precautions, we can minimise the impact, if not stall it altogether,” he said.
Adityanath said his government had begun readying 100bed ICUs in medical colleges, 30-bed ICUs in district hospitals.
It was also working on improving the facilities at community and primary health centres for the speculated third wave, he added.
He also spoke of the need for cleanliness, sanitisation and fogging in rural UP. He said these measures would not only help defeat Covid-19 but also other diseases like dengue and encephalitis.
He advised the villagers to ensure that the water they drink was clean as this was the season for the onset of several vectorborne diseases.
He also spoke of his government’s Covid management.
“Experts said the cases would cross 30 lakh in May and we would daily get one lakh Covid-19 patients during the period. But as of today, we have just 41,000 active cases across the state,” Adityanath said.
He also advised the high-risk category to avoid non-emergency travel.
